Social Justice Education
Social Justice Education refers to an educational approach that focuses on developing students' awareness and understanding of social justice issues, such as racism, sexism, classism, and ableism, with the goal of empowering them to take action for positive change. This approach incorporates critical pedagogy, which encourages students to question and critique societal power structures, and to consider their own roles in perpetuating or challenging these structures. It can be applied in various educational settings, including Religious Education and Religious Studies, where it can help students understand the social justice dimensions of religious traditions and practices, and to critically reflect on their own beliefs and values in relation to issues of social justice.
