Minority Serving Institutions
Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) are colleges and universities in the United States that have been officially designated by the U.S. Department of Education as institutions that serve populations of minority students. These designations include Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs), and Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions (ANNHSIs). MSIs are dedicated to providing access and opportunities for minority students in higher education, particularly at the undergraduate level. They offer a wide range of academic programs, resources, and support services aimed at promoting student success and addressing the unique challenges faced by minority populations in higher education.
