Definition of Educational Research as it relates to Education, Adult Education, ELearning

Educational Research is a systematic inquiry into educational practices, theories, and policies aimed at generating knowledge, enhancing understanding, and informing decision-making in various educational contexts. It encompasses a wide range of methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research designs, to investigate issues related to teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum development, organizational change, and policy implementation. Adult education is a subfield of educational research that focuses on the study of learning among adults in various settings, such as workplaces, community organizations, and higher education institutions. E-learning is another area of interest within educational research, examining the design, delivery, and effectiveness of online and technology-enhanced learning environments for learners of all ages. Overall, educational research seeks to advance knowledge and improve practice in education by generating empirical evidence, critically analyzing assumptions and practices, and promoting dialogue and collaboration among educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
