Business Operations Management
Warehouse Management refers to the systematic organization, direction and control of all warehouse functions to ensure efficient receipt, storage, order picking and dispatch of goods; in essence, it is the process of managing the movement and storing of materials within a warehouse. Effective Warehouse Management plays an integral role in business operations as well as Supply Chain Management by ensuring that products are stored appropriately, easily accessible when needed, and safely transported to their final destination. By optimizing the use of space, equipment, technology and labor resources, organizations can increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. Additionally, Warehouse Management also involves Supplier Relationship Management, as it requires coordination with suppliers in terms of receiving goods, verifying quantities and quality, as well as managing returns and resolving any discrepancies.
