Business Analysis

Definition of Business Analysis as it relates to Business, Project Management, Project Cost Management

A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in the context of business, project management, and project coordination, is a hierarchical decomposition of the total scope of work to be carried out by the project team. It represents a deliverable-oriented grouping of project components that organizes and defines the total scope of the project. Each descending level represents an increasingly detailed definition of the project scope and the work required to complete it. The WBS serves as a foundation for planning, estimating, scheduling, executing, and monitoring and controlling the project. It facilitates communication among stakeholders by providing a common framework for discussing project scope and work breakdown. Ultimately, a well-constructed WBS helps ensure that all aspects of the project are accounted for, reducing the risk of omissions or misunderstandings that can lead to delays, cost overruns, or suboptimal outcomes.
