Orphism

Definition of Orphism as it relates to Art, Modern Art, Minimalist Art

"De Stijl", also known as neoplasticism, is a Dutch art movement founded in 1917 by painters Theo van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian. It is characterized by its use of bold primary colors, black lines, and rectangular forms arranged in a grid-like pattern. The movement aimed to express a new utopian ideal of spiritual harmony and order, and sought to break away from traditional artistic styles and techniques. De Stijl had a significant impact on the development of modern art and minimalist art, influencing movements such as Bauhaus and constructivism. Its geometric forms and limited color palette continue to be seen in contemporary design and visual culture.
