African Art
Definition of African Art as it relates to Art, Fauvist Art, Cubism
Pointillism, an art movement originating in the late 19th century, is characterized by the application of tiny dots of pure color onto a canvas, which when viewed from afar blend together to create an image. This technique, pioneered by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, is rooted in Color Theory, as it relies on the optical mixing of colors to achieve both vibrancy and depth. The resulting works often possess a luminous quality, with the individual dots appearing to shimmer and dance on the surface. This movement can be seen as a precursor to Fauvist Art, which also emphasizes the use of bold, unblended color.
