Springs

Definition of Springs as it relates to Automotive, Automotive Undercarriage, Transmission Parts

CV joints, also known as Constant Velocity joints, are critical components in automotive drivetrain systems, primarily used in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles. They facilitate the smooth transfer of power from the transmission to the wheels while accommodating the varying angles and movements of the suspension system. CV joints consist of an inner and outer joint, both encased in a protective rubber boot. The inner joint connects to the transmission shaft, while the outer joint attaches to the wheel hub or axle shaft. These joints use ball bearings or roller bearings to maintain consistent velocity, ensuring smooth and efficient power transfer even during turns and under various load conditions. CV joints are durable and long-lasting but may eventually require replacement due to wear and tear or damage to the protective boot, which can lead to contamination and failure of the joint itself.
