Universal Joint
Manual Transmission refers to the type of automotive transmission system in which the driver manually selects and engages the vehicle's gears, as opposed to an automatic transmission that shifts gears on its own. This traditional form of transmission is typically composed of a clutch, flywheel, input shaft, gearbox, output shaft, and shift mechanism. The driver operates the clutch pedal to disengage and engage the transmission from the engine, while using the gear stick to select the desired gear ratio in the gearbox. Manual transmissions are known for their durability, fuel efficiency, and control they offer to drivers, but can also be more demanding to operate compared to automatic transmissions.
