Crankshafts
Crankshafts are a fundamental component of an automotive engine, responsible for converting reciprocating linear motion into rotational motion. They are typically made from high-strength materials such as cast iron or steel and feature several journals or bearings that support the engine's connecting rods and pistons. The crankshaft is driven by the up and down motion of the pistons, which are connected to the crankshaft via the connecting rods. As the pistons move up and down, they cause the crankshaft to rotate, driving the engine's transmission and ultimately the vehicle's wheels. In addition to their primary function, crankshafts also play a role in balancing the engine and reducing vibrations, ensuring smooth operation and longevity. They are a critical component of any internal combustion engine, and their design and manufacturing require precision and expertise.
