Exhaust System

Definition of Exhaust System as it relates to Automotive, Automotive Engine, Fuel Injector

An Exhaust System in an Automotive context refers to the series of components designed to guide exhaust gases away from the engine and out of the vehicle, thereby reducing noise and harmful emissions. Central to this system is the exhaust manifold which collects exhaust gases from each cylinder of the engine before directing them through the catalytic converter where pollutants are neutralized. The muffler then dampens the remaining sound while the tailpipe expels the gases out of the vehicle. Key components include oxygen sensors, exhaust pipes, and resonators. In essence, an Exhaust System is responsible for maintaining a clean and quiet environment both inside and outside the vehicle.
