Automotive Body Control Modules

Definition of Automotive Body Control Modules as it relates to Automotive, Automotive Computer Diagnostics, Automotive Fault Code Reading

Automotive Body Control Modules (BCMs) are specialized automotive computers responsible for managing various electronic systems within a vehicle, including power door locks, windows, sunroofs, interior lighting, and more. They interpret input signals from sensors and switches, processing this data to control the corresponding actuators or output devices. BCMs can also communicate with other on-board modules via a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus for coordinated system functionality. Diagnostic tools are often used by technicians to interface with BCMs for fault code reading and analysis, helping identify issues that may affect vehicle performance, comfort, or safety systems.
