Gel Battery
A Gel battery, also known as a Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) battery, is a type of rechargeable lead acid battery that uses a gelified electrolyte instead of a liquid one. This design makes it more resistant to vibrations and extreme temperatures, making it ideal for automotive applications where the battery may be subjected to rough conditions. Gel batteries are also sealed, which means they do not require maintenance and are spill-proof. They provide a stable voltage and have a longer life span compared to traditional lead acid batteries. The gel electrolyte is formed by adding silica dust to the electrolyte, turning it into a solid mass that can't flow or freeze. This feature makes them more durable in deep discharge situations and suitable for use in renewable energy systems such as solar and wind power. They are also commonly used in mobility scooters, golf carts and other recreational vehicles.
