Starting Lighting Ignition Batteries
Starting Lighting Ignition (SLI) batteries, also known as automotive batteries, are essential components in vehicles for powering the starter motor, ignition system, and lighting systems. They store electrical energy through a chemical reaction and release it when needed, ensuring reliable vehicle operation. These batteries are typically lead-acid type with multiple cells connected in series to produce a 12V output. The plates inside are made of lead or lead oxide, immersed in an electrolyte solution consisting of sulfuric acid and water. Modern SLI batteries feature advanced technologies such as Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) and Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB), offering improved performance, durability, and safety.
