Definition of Pop Surrealism as it relates to Art, Pop Art, Contemporary Pop

Optical Art, also known as Op Art, is an artistic movement characterized by its exploration of optical illusions and visual phenomena. It emerged in the 1950s and 1960s as a subgenre of abstract art, and has since been associated with Pop Art and Contemporary Pop movements. Optical Art artists use precise patterns, lines, and shapes to create works that appear to move, vibrate, or change as the viewer looks at them. This is achieved through techniques such as geometric abstraction, hard-edge painting, and color theory. The goal of Optical Art is not only to challenge the viewer's perception, but also to explore the relationship between art, science, and technology.
