Interactive Public Art

Definition of Interactive Public Art as it relates to Art, Installation Art, Public Art

Video Art refers to an artistic discipline that utilizes video technology as its primary medium. It emerged in the 1960s and 1970s as artists began to experiment with portable video cameras and recorders, which offered new possibilities for expression beyond traditional painting and sculpture. Video art often incorporates elements of installation art, as it frequently involves the creation of immersive environments that engage viewers in a multisensory experience. It is also closely aligned with modern art, as it reflects many of the same concerns with form, content, and medium that characterized the modernist movement. At its core, video art is a dynamic and evolving field that challenges conventional notions of art-making and viewership, inviting us to reconsider the role of technology in our lives and our relationship to the world around us.
