Surrealism: A 20th-century art movement characterized by dreamlike, illogical scenes and juxtapositions that challenge traditional perceptions of reality. It emerged as a literary movement in the late 1910s, led by French poet André Breton, who published the first Surrealist Manifesto in 1924.
