Concrete Art

Definition of Concrete Art as it relates to Art, Conceptual Art, Modern Art

Suprematism is a modernist movement in abstract art founded by Kazimir Malevich in Russia, around 1915-1916. It is characterized by simple geometric forms such as circles, squares, lines and rectangles, painted in a limited range of colors, often on a white ground. The Suprematist artists sought to express pure feeling and spirituality through the arrangement and interaction of these basic elements, free from any associations with the physical world or recognizable objects. They aimed to create a new visual language that would transcend traditional artistic practices and cultural boundaries, reflecting the revolutionary spirit of the time. This movement had a significant influence on the development of non-objective art, Conceptual Art, and Minimalist Art.
