Diapsid Fossils
Diapsid fossils are remnants of ancient animals that belonged to the Diapsida clade, which includes modern reptiles and birds. These creatures were characterized by having two openings on each side of their skulls, behind the eye sockets. Diapsids first appeared around 320 million years ago during the Late Carboniferous period and are still a diverse group today.
