HIVAIDS Prevention

The prevention of HIV/AIDS refers to efforts and strategies aimed at reducing the transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This includes promoting safe sexual practices, increasing access to testing and counseling services, distributing condoms, promoting abstinence, providing education on the risks and modes of transmission, and advocating for the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) medications. Prevention efforts also involve addressing social determinants such as stigma, discrimination, poverty, and lack of access to healthcare that contribute to the spread of the disease.
