Greek Theaters
Greek theaters are outdoor performance spaces that were commonly used for plays and other forms of entertainment in ancient Greece. They typically consisted of a semi-circular or circular area called the orchestra, where the actors performed, and a raised stage area known as the skene. The audience sat on stone benches built into the hillside, providing excellent acoustics and views of the stage. Greek theaters were often built into natural hillsides to take advantage of the surrounding landscape and could accommodate thousands of spectators. The design of Greek theaters influenced the development of theater architecture in ancient Rome and continues to inspire modern theater design.
