Glass Sponges

Glass sponges are aquatic organisms belonging to the phylum Porifera, characterized by their unique skeletal structure composed of silica-based spicules and fibers. Unlike other sponge species, glass sponges create a delicate, fragile framework that resembles fine glass threads, making them extremely sensitive to environmental changes. These animals dwell in deep, cold ocean waters, typically found at depths greater than 200 meters.
