GinkakuJi

Ginkaku-ji, also known as the Silver Pavilion, is a Zen temple located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto, Japan. It is a popular tourist attraction known for its stunning architecture, beautiful gardens, and peaceful atmosphere. The temple was originally built in 1482 as a retirement villa for the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa, and later converted into a Zen temple after his death. Ginkaku-ji is famous for its silver-colored exterior, which was intended to be covered in silver leaf but never was. The temple is surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens, including the famous "Sea of Silver Sand" and the "Moon Viewing Platform." Ginkaku-ji is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most important cultural landmarks in Kyoto.
