Gentoo Penguins
Gentoo Penguins are medium-sized penguins that are easily recognizable by their bright orange-red bills and the white patches around their eyes. They have a glossy, waterproof coat of feathers that is primarily black on their back and head, with a white belly and a distinctive tail that is longer and more pointed than other penguin species. Gentoo Penguins are known for their distinctive honking calls and are skilled swimmers, using their flippers to navigate through the water with ease. These penguins breed on sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula, forming large colonies during the breeding season. They primarily feed on fish, krill, and squid, diving deep into the ocean to catch their prey. Gentoo Penguins are considered near-threatened due to climate change and human activities impacting their habitats.
