Gemology

Gemology is the scientific study and identification of gemstones, which are precious or semi-precious stones that are cut and polished to be used in jewelry or other decorative items. Gemologists examine the physical, chemical, and optical properties of gemstones to determine their authenticity and value. They also classify gemstones based on their mineral composition, color, clarity, and cut. Gemology involves the use of specialized tools and techniques, such as microscopes, refractometers, and spectrometers, to analyze and evaluate gemstones.
