Gelada Monkeys
Gelada monkeys, also known as bleeding-heart monkeys, are a species of Old World monkeys found in the Ethiopian highlands. They are easily recognizable by the distinctive red patch of skin on their chests, which becomes brighter during periods of excitement. Geladas primarily feed on grass, making them the only primate species with a diet consisting mainly of grass. They live in large, cohesive groups led by a dominant male, with females forming strong social bonds within the group. Geladas are known for their complex vocalizations, including "chattering" and "wobbles," which are used for communication and social bonding within the group.
