Freshwater Crocodile
The freshwater crocodile, also known as the Australian freshwater crocodile or Johnstone's crocodile, is a species of crocodile native to freshwater habitats in northern Australia. It is smaller than its saltwater cousin, with a slender body, long snout, and light tan to grayish-brown coloration. These crocodiles are opportunistic feeders, preying on fish, insects, and small mammals. They are known for their ability to regulate their body temperature by basking in the sun or retreating to cool water. Freshwater crocodiles are considered less aggressive towards humans compared to saltwater crocodiles, but caution should still be exercised when encountering them in the wild.
