French Third Republic
The French Third Republic refers to the period in French history that lasted from 1870 to 1940, following the defeat of Napoleon III in the Franco-Prussian War. During this time, France experienced political instability, social reforms, economic growth, and imperial expansion. The Third Republic saw the rise of political parties, the implementation of secular education, and the Dreyfus Affair, which exposed deep divisions within French society. This era ultimately came to an end with the fall of France to Nazi Germany in World War II.
