Fortified Foods
Fortified foods are products that have had additional nutrients added to them that were not originally present in the food. This is typically done to increase the nutritional value of the food and provide consumers with essential vitamins and minerals that may be lacking in their diets. Fortified foods can include items such as cereals, milk, juice, and bread, among others. The added nutrients can vary but often include vitamins such as A, D, and B vitamins, as well as minerals like iron and calcium.
