Footcloth

A footcloth is a rectangular piece of cloth typically made from linen or cotton that is used to wrap around the foot and lower leg for protection and comfort. It is worn inside shoes or boots to absorb sweat, prevent friction, and provide cushioning. Footcloths were commonly used in historical periods as a form of footwear before the invention of socks and modern shoes.
