Flightless Cormorants
Flightless Cormorants are a species of cormorant native to the Galápagos Islands. They are unique in that they have lost the ability to fly, making them the only cormorant species in the world that is flightless. Despite their inability to fly, Flightless Cormorants are excellent swimmers and divers, using their powerful webbed feet to propel themselves through the water in search of fish, their primary source of food. These birds have evolved to have reduced wings and a heavier body structure, which aids in their buoyancy and diving abilities. Flightless Cormorants are known for their distinctive appearance, with glossy black feathers, long necks, and curved beaks.
