Evacuants
Evacuants are substances or agents that are used to induce bowel movements or to empty the bowels. They are commonly used to treat constipation or to prepare for certain medical procedures that require the bowels to be empty. Evacuants work by either increasing the frequency of bowel movements or by softening the stool to facilitate its passage. Some common types of evacuants include laxatives, enemas, and suppositories.
