Elephant Birds
Elephant Birds were large, flightless birds that lived on the island of Madagascar. They were some of the largest birds to have ever existed, with the largest species standing over 10 feet tall and weighing up to 1,000 pounds. Elephant Birds were herbivores and likely fed on plants, fruits, and small animals. Unfortunately, they went extinct around 1,000 years ago, likely due to hunting and habitat loss. Today, Elephant Birds are known mainly from fossilized remains, with the largest and most complete skeletons being displayed in museums around the world.
