Ecotone
An ecotone is a transition zone between two or more distinct ecosystems, where elements of each ecosystem mix and create a unique environment that supports a diverse range of plant and animal species. Ecotones are characterized by a high level of biodiversity and serve as important habitats for wildlife, as well as playing a crucial role in ecological processes such as nutrient cycling and species interactions. These dynamic and constantly changing areas are influenced by factors such as climate, soil composition, and human activities, making them valuable areas for scientific study and conservation efforts.
