Eastern Moa
The Eastern Moa were a group of nine species of large, flightless birds native to New Zealand. They were part of the extinct family Dinornithidae and were characterized by their long necks, stout bodies, and powerful legs. The Eastern Moa were herbivores and played a crucial role in the ecosystem as seed dispersers. Unfortunately, they were hunted to extinction by the indigenous Māori people and European settlers, with the last Eastern Moa believed to have died out around the 15th century. Today, they are known only through fossil remains and archaeological evidence.
