Discourse Analysis
Discourse analysis is the examination and study of written or spoken communication to understand the underlying meanings, social structures, and power dynamics at play. This interdisciplinary field draws on theories from linguistics, sociology, anthropology, psychology, and communication studies to analyze how language is used to shape and construct meaning in society. Researchers in discourse analysis often focus on how language reflects and reinforces social norms, identities, ideologies, and relationships, as well as how it can be used to challenge or disrupt existing power structures.
