Deoxyribonucleic Acid

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, commonly referred to as DNA, is a molecule that contains the genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth, and reproduction of all known organisms and many viruses. It is made up of two long chains of nucleotides twisted into a double helix and is found in the nucleus of cells. DNA is responsible for carrying genetic information that determines an organism's traits and characteristics through the sequence of its four bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), and thymine (T).
