Crisis Intervention Team
A Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a specialized law enforcement unit that is trained to respond to situations involving individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. CIT officers are equipped with the skills and knowledge to de-escalate volatile situations, provide immediate assistance to individuals in crisis, and connect them with appropriate mental health resources. The primary goal of a Crisis Intervention Team is to promote the safety and well-being of both the individual in crisis and the community at large.
