Compactions
Compactions refer to the geological process of reducing the volume of sedimentary deposits through the application of pressure. This pressure results in the closer packing of grains within the deposit, leading to a decrease in porosity and an increase in density. Compactions can occur naturally over time due to the weight of overlying sediments or can be induced through human activities such as construction or mining.
