Cold Frames
Cold frames are enclosed garden structures used to extend the growing season for plants by providing a protected environment from harsh weather conditions. Typically made of transparent material such as glass or plastic, cold frames capture and retain heat from sunlight to create a warmer microclimate for plants to thrive in cooler temperatures. They are commonly used for starting seedlings, hardening off plants before transplanting, and growing cold-tolerant crops during the fall and winter months.
