Chromosome Structure

Chromosome structure refers to the organization and arrangement of DNA and proteins within a chromosome. This includes the packaging of DNA into chromatin, which consists of nucleosomes made up of histone proteins, as well as higher-order structures such as loops and domains. Chromosome structure also encompasses the telomeres at the ends of chromosomes, which help maintain the stability and integrity of the genetic material, as well as the centromeres, which are important for proper chromosome segregation during cell division. Additionally, chromosome structure can vary between different organisms and can be influenced by factors such as gene expression and epigenetic modifications.
