Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells and some other eukaryotic organisms that are responsible for photosynthesis. These specialized structures contain chlorophyll, a green pigment that captures sunlight and converts it into energy through a series of chemical reactions. Chloroplasts are characterized by a double membrane structure and contain their own DNA, allowing them to replicate independently within the cell. In addition to producing energy, chloroplasts also play a role in synthesizing organic compounds and storing nutrients for the plant.
