Confucianism is a philosophical and ethical system based on the teachings of Confucius, a Chinese philosopher and educator who lived during the Warring States period. It emphasizes the importance of moral values, social harmony, filial piety, and the cultivation of virtue. Confucianism stresses the significance of rituals, propriety, and proper conduct in both personal relationships and societal interactions. Central to Confucian thought is the concept of Ren, or benevolence, which promotes kindness, compassion, and empathy towards others. Confucianism has had a profound influence on Chinese culture, society, and political thought for over two millennia.
