Cellular Biology Cell Wall

The cell wall is a rigid, protective layer surrounding the cell membrane of plant cells, bacteria, fungi, and some protists. It provides structural support and helps maintain the shape of the cell. The composition of the cell wall varies between different organisms, but it is commonly made up of cellulose in plants, peptidoglycan in bacteria, and chitin in fungi. The cell wall also plays a role in regulating the movement of substances in and out of the cell.
