Calving Glaciers

Calving glaciers are large masses of ice that extend out over bodies of water or land. They are characterized by the process of calving, in which chunks of ice break off from the main glacier and fall into the water, often creating icebergs. Calving glaciers are found in polar regions and high mountain ranges, where the climate is cold enough to sustain large ice formations. The calving process is a natural part of the glacier's lifecycle, as it helps to maintain the balance between the accumulation of ice at the top and the loss of ice at the bottom.
