Brake Caliper
A brake caliper is a mechanical component of a vehicle's braking system that houses the brake pads and applies pressure to them to create friction against the brake rotor, ultimately slowing down or stopping the vehicle. It is typically located near the wheel and is responsible for converting hydraulic pressure from the brake master cylinder into mechanical force to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal is pressed. Brake calipers come in various designs, including floating, sliding, fixed, and opposed piston configurations, each with its own unique advantages and characteristics.
