Bioluminescences
Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by living organisms. This phenomenon occurs as a result of chemical reactions within the organism, usually involving the enzyme luciferase and a light-emitting molecule called luciferin. Bioluminescence is found in a variety of marine organisms such as jellyfish, fish, and plankton, as well as some terrestrial organisms like fireflies and fungi. The light produced can serve a variety of purposes, including attracting prey, deterring predators, and communication with other members of the species.
