Binary Stars
Binary stars are a system of two stars that are gravitationally bound to each other and orbit around a common center of mass. These pairs of stars can be either visual binaries, where the two stars can be distinguished separately, or spectroscopic binaries, where the stars appear as one but their periodic Doppler shifts indicate their binary nature. Binary stars are common in the universe and provide valuable information about stellar evolution, mass transfer, and gravitational interactions.
