Aramaic Language
Aramaic Language: An ancient Semitic language belonging to the Afro-Asiatic language family, historically spoken in the Near East. It was used as a lingua franca in the Assyrian and Babylonian empires, and later became the official language of the Persian Empire. Aramaic has various dialects and scripts, including the square script used in the Talmud and the cursive script used in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Today, Aramaic is primarily spoken by small communities in the Middle East and is used in certain religious texts.
