Aquatic Toxicology
Aquatic Toxicology is the study of the effects of toxic substances on aquatic organisms and ecosystems. It involves researching how pollutants and chemicals, both natural and man-made, impact the health and behavior of aquatic species such as fish, invertebrates, and plants, as well as the overall health of aquatic environments. Researchers in this field analyze the mechanisms by which toxins are absorbed, metabolized, and excreted by aquatic organisms, as well as the long-term consequences of exposure to these substances on populations and communities within aquatic ecosystems. The goal of aquatic toxicology is to assess and mitigate the risks of pollution to protect the health and sustainability of aquatic systems.
